Barbell Strength Classes

Our barbell strength classes are designed to accommodate all fitness levels and enable each participant to learn the lifts and progress their strength safely. We offer 4 classes designed around current fitness status and experience with barbell lifts.


Introduction to Strength

Designed for those interested in learning proper lifting technique of the four fundamental lifts - squat, bench press, deadlift, and overhead press.

Participants learn how to execute these lifts with correct form before being introduced to the barbell. Any mobility and/or stability deficits identified will be addressed through corrective exercise and accessory work.


Foundations of Strength

Similar to intro to strength in that the focus remains on the four fundamental lifts - squat, bench press, deadlift, and overhead press - but with a greater emphasis on working under load. Weight is added to the bar each week in a linear fashion in order to improve strength and develop confidence in each lift.

Participants are provided with accessory workouts (done on non-class days) to address any mobility, stability, and/or musculoskeletal deficits and to supplement what is done in class.


Olympic Prep

as an introduction to olympic lifing, this class builds upon the four fundamental lifts and introduces the front squat, push press, and overhead Squat. A breakdown of the clean and the snatch are also introduced.

participants will perform a 1-repetition maximum (1-Rm) in the squat, bench press, deadlift, and overhead press. The 1-Rm value will then be used to determine appropriate, INDIVIDUALIZED loading schemes for progression throughout the class.


Olympic Lifting

Designed to develop proficiency in the variations of the snatch and the clean, as well as continue to build strength in the lifts learned during previous classes.

due to the nature of this class, only those who have demonstrated the necessary proprioception, motor control, and strength required to perform the lifts will be allowed to enroll in this class.

weightlifting shoes and belt are highly recommended and encouraged for participation in this class.

Barbell Strength Orientation Session

Individuals interested in participating in one of our barbell strength classes are required to attend an orientation session. The cost of the orientation session is $25 and will go towards registration should you choose to enroll in class.

during the orientation session you will be introduced to the strength coaches, undergo a functional movement screen ($75 value), and have a chance to ask questions of our head strength coach.

the purpose of the orientation session is to ensure that each participant is placed in the correct class for their current skill level. due to the nature of these classes, safety is of the utmost importance and you will not be allowed to enroll in a class without being evaluated by our head strength coach.
